WHAT TO EXPECT

Small groups for diverse interactions

Masterclasses

Learning through observation and experimentation; how people with rich, implicit knowledge (about Focusing, Polyvagal Theory, dreams, philosophy, etc.) bring this into practical relationship processes.

Accompanied by facilitators

Experiential Encounter

Experienced facilitators provide empathetic, appreciative and congruent guidance in a completely open relational space where people can experience themselves as social beings and the “wisdom of the group body” (C. Rogers) can reveal itself.

speakers refer to each other

Embodied Dialog

Speakers don't just talk about something, but above all, they talk to each other; genuine listening and relating to one another; what resonance do the other's words evoke and how do they intersect with one's own implicit experience?

The experience is the focus

Fishbowl

A more structured addition to the Encounter; individuals contribute their Encounter experience, meet in the middle of the group as a whole, and thus make the shared process visible.

With your assigned Focusing person

One-to-one Focusing

Each participant is listened to; and each person can thereby explicate and advance their own present experiencing; the relationship with me is strengthened for the encounter with others.

Thinking outside the box

Experiential Laboratory

On Sunday, additional input from external experts will support the development of formats based on the congress experiences; formats that can have a social impact beyond the confines of psychotherapy.

OUR CONGRESS IDEA

How can one commemorate, within the framework of a conference, a person who placed the "not yet known but already felt" at the center of his entire research life? By placing precisely that phenomenon he researched at the center.

“Experiencing” is Eugene T. Gendlin’s true, central discovery: the concrete, physically perceptible process of the interconnectedness of body and environment, to which we humans can refer at any time. It is simultaneously “the boundary of what is already there”—and thus the place where personality change is possible.

The basic idea of the congress is to provide safe spaces for relationships.

The introductory session on Thursday morning (Pre-Congress) offers the opportunity to learn from "masters." Here, "master" is not understood in the usual, evaluative sense, but rather as people who, through diverse experiences in certain areas of life, have acquired implicit knowledge that they bring to their interactions with the participants. Even at this early stage, the focus is on enabling practical (learning) processes, not on imparting content or explicit knowledge.

The core of the entire congress consists of four half-day sessions, during which open spaces for interaction facilitate experiencing processes among all participants. A clear, recurring structure provides a safe framework: Each session begins with an experiential dialogue between two speakers. Dialogue means truly listening to and relating to one another. All participants can then try out and experience this themselves in a paired focusing session. This is followed by a step outward, into the group, towards encounters with everyone else in the form of an encounter.

We also want to explore how this format developed by Carl Rogers could be revived and function in the 21st century – because what is more urgently needed from a socio-political perspective right now?

At the end of each half-day, the essential experiences of the group process are gathered using the "Fishbowl" method, and the "wisdom of the group body" (C. Rogers) is made visible.

Saturday afternoon and evening are dedicated to the classic tribute to Eugene T. Gendlin: Online presentations and panel discussions with renowned colleagues will recall personal experiences and encounters, before the obligatory evening celebration also incorporates the entertaining, social aspect of Experiencing.

Sunday morning is the bonus day of the congress: an experimental laboratory for all those who want to explore, in the form of open spaces, how the experiences of the congress days can be effective beyond the confines of psychotherapy – entirely in keeping with the basic idea of the Encounter movement.

These days will lead both inwards and outwards, thus enabling what lies in between: "onwards" – the one process of connecting with myself and with others.

"the household economy"

The unique location, with its diverse range of spaces from two-person settings to large groups in the hall, enables a wide variety of encounters, including with videos by Gendlin, quiet rooms, small groups, creative opportunities and much more.

The most important encounters often happen during breaks. To ensure that the group process is interrupted as little as possible over the four days, a lunch provided by an organic caterer, as well as mineral water and snacks during breaks, are included in the conference fee.
